Maritime Specialist – Ecology and Environment, Inc. is a fully integrated environmental consulting firm whose underlying philosophy is its worldwide commitment to supporting sustainable development through responsible environmental stewardship. We are seeking Maritime Specialists for one of our Gulf Coast offices. (Other locations may be considered nation-wide for exceptionally qualified candidates.)
This opportunity is open to USCG officers, senior enlisted or Merchant Mariners with 5 or more years of experience with, shipboard engineering, marine safety, surface/deck operations, and port security.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct audits of vessels and waterfront facilities for environmental and/or security compliance
• Investigate/determine causes of pollution incidents and make recommendations for improvement
• Technical writing of reports and proposals
• Assist with development, facilitation and evaluation of drills and exercises
• Project management and business development
Requirements:
• Former USCG Commissioned Officer, Warrant Officer, Senior enlisted or licensed Merchant Mariner
• Experience as a USCG Marine Inspector, a licensed Merchant Marine Engineering Officer or Facility/Vessel Security Officer preferred (other equivalent experience will be considered)
• Knowledge of U.S. and international requirements for shipboard pollution prevention equipment and waste disposal procedures
• Knowledge/experience with machinery space engineering systems, especially operation and maintenance of oily water separator equipment
• Knowledge/experience with machinery space environmental compliance auditing and Maritime Transportation Security Act regulations
• Experience as a Vessel Inspector, Engineering Officer, or Chief Engineer preferred
• Experience with drill and exercise development/facilitation/ evaluation a plus
• Capable of working independently and with multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
